FAQ

What is Australian Radio School?
Australian Radio School has been established in Adelaide for over 10 years. In that time, over 400 people have graduated to jobs in radio and TV all over Australia. In April 2010, Sean Craig Murphy from Triple M took over the radio school from Adelaide radio legend David Day.
Could I be a radio star?
Can you tell a good story or a funny joke? Do you look at life differently? Can make people laugh or cry or shout or think? If you answered YES to any of those questions radio could be the career for you. You don't need a deep voice or an encyclopaedic knowledge of music. And it doesn't matter what your background is. (Hell, Cosi from hit107 used to be a pig farmer!) You just need the passion to take the next step to find out whether you’ve got what it takes to crack a job in radio.
Do you need experience to take one of these courses?
There is no experience whatsoever needed for the Introduction to radio course or Voiceover workshops. However for the Master class you need to have either completed the Introduction to radio course or have community radio experience.
What if the course I want has already begun for the year?
You can register for the next course. Introduction to radio courses run 3 times a year. It’s advisable to register as early as possible though, as the courses and workshops usually sell out quickly.
Can I go on a payment plan?
Sure can. We prefer if it’s paid up front and even offer a $200 discount to those who can pay before the course starts, but if you need another couple of months to pay off the course we totally understand and can tailor a plan that suits.
How do I sign up for a course?
Simply fill out the contact form and Sean Craig Murphy will give you a personal call advising you of the next steps.
I don’t know where to start, how would you recommend beginning my courses?
If you register, Sean Craig Murphy will give you a “no obligation” phone call to answer any questions you have and point you in the right direction.
Is Australian Radio School (or ARS) right for me?
Australian Radio School has been established in Adelaide for over 10 years. In that time, over 400 people have graduated to jobs in radio and TV all over Australia. In April 2010, Sean Craig Murphy from Triple M took over the radio school from Adelaide radio legend David Day.
Is there an age limit on who can do the course?
You have to be 18, but after that it doesn’t matter how old you are!
What happens if I miss a class?
If you miss a class you can make up the same class in the next course free of charge and/or you can be briefly updated before the next module.
Does it matter that I have no experience in radio?
Not at all, most people who do the Introduction to Radio course are in the same boat as you.
Will I get a job at the end of the course?
You may, but we can’t guarantee that. However doing the course will definitely maximise your chances of getting employment.
Will you assist me in getting a job?
Absolutely. We give advice during the course and put you in contact with people who can help out your career. Then after the course we’re only a phone call or email away.
